How to get to Kyoto

Map of the world

First, of course you must come to Japan.

The largest international gateway of Japan is Narita Airport (New Tokyo International Airport). Following three are examples of ways to go to Kyoto from Narita Airport. As Narita-Itami route has less frequent traffic than other two routes, you might find it more convenient to go through Haneda airport or by railway (Shinkansen).

WARNING: Information in this page is just an example and you must make sure yourself when you make an itinerary.

  • Narita -> One hour and ten minutes of flight -> Itami Airport (Osaka Airport)
  • Itami Airport -> One hour of Limousine Bus -> Kyoto Station
or
  • Narita -> One and a quarter hours of Limousine Bus -> Haneda Airport of Tokyo
  • Haneda Airport -> One hour of flight -> Itami Airport
  • Itami Airport -> One hour of Limousine Bus -> Kyoto Station
or
  • Narita -> an hour of JR train -> Tokyo Station
  • Tokyo Station -> two and half hours of Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train) -> Kyoto Station

If you arrive at another international gateway, Kansai Airport (Osaka), you can use JR lines or Limousine bus. It will take one and a quarter hours or one and three quarter hours respectively.
