My Kind of Kyoto, a website on Japan's most important historic city.
Suhama in the middle of the photo is likened to a cape. They put a small
ishidoro, or stone lantern, on the point of the cape like a lighthouse.
Visitors walk on the stone bridge in the middle toward right and turn right
to come down on the stone stairs in the right of the photo and arrive at
Shokin-tei.
